THE University of Cape Town is to celebrate the installation of its new vice-chancellor Max Price today with a series of events this week that will, among other things, see former students of the 1968 sit-in reunited 40 years later.
Price was appointed on July 1 and takes over from Njabulo Ndebele.
Following an Academic Freedom Committee Symposium on "Lessons of the Mafeje Affair" yesterday, today Archie Mafeje will be honoured with a posthumous honorary degree.
The university's chancellor, Graca Machel, and Education Minister Naledi Pandor are expected to address the audience at the event.
