My phone has been ringing and the mailbox filling with responses to what I've written on a subject apparently near, though not always dear, to many hearts.

Callers and writers have reported their reverence, their disdain, their personal revelations, their scientific refutations and plenty of emotions in between, concerning "this Armageddon thing."

At the risk of even more calls and letters, let's look at this Armageddon thing one more time.

First of all, a reiteration: Though Christians believe in the Second Coming of Christ and a day of judgment, it is only a small group of evangelical Christians who have done most research and writing on "eschatology," or what the Bible literally says about the end-times and the final battle of Armageddon. …
